Global AgriTrends was founded by in 2006 to improve global analysis and reporting of market intelligence and trade data. The firm is rooted in providing clear, concise market intelligence for the global agri-food sector.
Richard Fritz is a founding partner of Global AgriTrends with years of experience in the global agriculture industry. He was formerly the Vice President of Trade Development for the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF), with responsibilities for the international trade development and policy issues of the Federation. Prior to joining USMEF, Mr. Fritz served as General Sales Manager within the Foreign Agricultural Service of the USDA. In this capacity Mr. Fritz managed all USDA export credit programs and the Department’s foreign food donation programs. Responsibilities included serving as chief negotiator for the U.S. Government on agricultural credit issues at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
Mr. Fritz previously was owner and President of Pacific Vision, a consulting firm that specialized in assisting U.S. food processors to research and develop markets in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to starting Pacific Vision, Mr. Fritz was Vice President of the international consulting firm, The ADAMS Group. Mr. Fritz has also served as Assistant Director of Agriculture for the State of Oregon; the marketing director for U.S. Wheat Associates; and chief economist for the National Association of Wheat Growers. He has also served as a staff member to the House Agriculture Committee of the U.S. Congress.
Mr. Fritz holds an undergraduate degree in agricultural economics and a masters degree in econometrics.
Brett Stuart is a founding partner of Global AgriTrends. He was formerly employed by the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) as their lead economist. In this capacity he conducted numerous research and analysis projects in the global meat trade area as well as advising U.S. trade officials on international meat access issues.
Mr. Stuart has conducted on-the-ground agriculture industry research around the globe.
Prior to his work with the federation, Mr. Stuart was the Assistant Manager of Marketing for AgReserves, Inc, and was involved with a variety of livestock marketing strategies.
Mr. Stuart’s specific international market research includes:
- Co-authored, “The vital role of science in global policy decision-making: an analysis of past, current, and forecasted trends and issues in global red meat trade and policy”. International Congress of Meat Science and Technology Journal, 2005.
- He was involved in committee work and was the supporting economist for the Farm Foundation’s report, “The Future of Animal Agriculture in North America” (2006).
- Market analysis and recommended strategies for U.S. meats in the Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Australia, South Africa, Tunisia, and Morocco.
- Research and recommendations for revisions to the Japan gate price system for pork.
- Joint planning and cooperation with Mexican meat producers to build meat consumption in Mexico.
- Ongoing close analysis and projections of African Swine Fever (ASF) losses in China and globally, including expectations for the global protein sectors.
Mr. Stuart was raised on a cattle ranch in Utah and also worked as a financial controller in the agriculture industry. Brett received a undergraduate degree in accounting at Utah State and an MBA from the University of Nebraska.
Simon is a global meat trader and analyst based in Wangaratta Australia. His work in the global protein space spans nearly 3 decades of traveling the global protein world in capacities as a trader. Simon’s experience includes positions with Louis Dreyfus, ConAgra, DR Johnston, and FC Stone.
Today he is an independent meat and livestock analyst and also brokers swaps on behalf of large financial institutions in Australia and brokers physical meat products around the world working exclusively for a large international companies with interests across the global protein spectrum.
Simon also has a very active meat and livestock consulting business and works closely with meat processors, live cattle exporters, farmers and importers in Australia, New Zealand, India, China, Japan and the U.S.
