USDA Export Sales Data (beef & pork), week ended 4/1/21

Weekly beef export shipments were the 2nd highest yet this year on strong Korean and Chinese demand.  Shipments to China reached a new record high.  Pork shipments were slightly lower from last week but saw the 2nd highest weekly exports to China this year.  Note my comments as well on the SHARP sustained drop in Chinese hog prices, now down -39% since the first week of January and approaching pre-ASF levels.

USDA Export Sales Data (beef & pork), week ended 3/18/21

Weekly beef exports bumped higher to the 2nd highest week yet this year on Asian growth. China saw the 2nd highest weekly beef shipments ever. U.S. beef outstanding sales (orders not yet shipped) stand at record highs, due to soaring beef prices in Brazil and Australia. Pork export shipments declined slightly this week with China and other Asian shipments lower (but Mexico to record highs). Pork bookings remained near steady with a hesitancy of foreign buyers to dive in at these higher U.S. prices. Chinese hog prices are now down -27% since the first week of January and lack the ability to spur new U.S. business. Chinese corn bookings showed the 3.9 mmt that was in the news last week.
